There Were Times ...

there were times ...

(I both like,

and dislike,

to remember them)

... where to choose to end

(not choose an end

choose to end)

seemed the easiest choice

such choices become so easy

(in darkness

such overwhelming darkness)

it becomes too difficult

(almost impossibly

difficult)

to choose another choice

(choose to see light

so elusive a light)

instead

I said that I both liked

and disliked

the rememberings

I like remembering

the greater power that held

hope

steadfast against the dark

I dislike remembering

the weaker power that held

pain

to the wound within my soul

there were times ...

... but now ...

... there are not ...

Light has overcome the dark

There Were Times ...
